OpenStax
Previously, OpenStax's “Subjects” pages, which house their main product, digital open-source textbooks, relied on a filtering feature to serve up books from specific category filters. Therefore, no unique links were created for separate subjects.
Following expert SEO advice, and equipped with insights from the user interviews and A/B testing that I facilitated, I redesigned all OpenStax Subjects pages to incorporate link-based navigation through textbook categories, to help improve our SEO for these high-impact pages and serve up content in a flow that better matched the mental models of the teachers that use OpenStax textbooks.
In addition, we also implemented a new language toggle feature that allows textbook content to be viewed in both English and Spanish, to help teachers easily provide links to textbooks to their students in their preferred language.
